It cannot be argued that Sinach stands as the biggest gospel artist in Nigeria and from Africa. If there was a legit gospel music awards, she would be the winner because her song “Waymaker” is one of the most sung and re-sung worship songs in the world till date. If you think otherwise, let us know in the comment.
But if you agree that Sinach is the No1 gospel artist in Nigeria, who will you say is the next biggest gospel artist and Why?
There are a lot of great gospel music artist out there such as Mercy Chinwo, Nathaniel Bassey, Tim Godfrey, Eben, Ada, Sammie Okposso, Nosa, the list in big and if we assume today was award giving day, then it will be hard to select.
So let’s hear from you. After Sinach who is the next Biggest Gospel Artist in Nigeria?
Drop your comment.
After Sinach i think its Nathaniel Bassey because his songs has cut through boarders also and still very much relevant till this day
I agree to the fact that spinach is the number one gospel minister in Nigeria and the world at large.
Well the next biggest gospel minister is Frank Edwards, because of this reasons he has released so many gospel music that has blessed so many people in Nigeria. If you are holding crusade and Frank’s picture is on the bill board that one is an advert on his own. He has sang with Don Men. Also Frank Edwards is a son of Pastor Chris. A man who for weeks held online programmes with 3billion people in attendance.
Sinach is definitely the beat tight now, her song ‘Way Maker.’ If it had an official release in the US, it will probably be a certified platinum. It gets performed everywhere across the world and even by Kanye West’s Sunday Service.
After her is Nathaniel Bassey to me this decade, he has released five solid albums. For one month between June and July 2017, he had Nigeria on standstill between 12:00 am and 1:00 am. It was called Hallelujah Hour. That was amazing
Sinach is definitely number 1, her song titled, ‘Way Maker.’ is so good and It gets performed everywhere across the world and even by Kanye West’s Sunday Service. Definitely amazing.
After her i believe is Nathaniel Bassey, he has released five solid albums and he nationalised hallelujah hour.
After Sinach I’d say Frank Edwards, his music has panned the world and he has also featured a lot of international gospel ministers, he is very consistent in his songwriting and production,( Frank Edwards has a new song every other day) I actually appreciate his consistency, he engages his audience well and the demand for his music is quite tremendous as well, everyone always looks out for him at crusades and outreaches, this man of God is superb.

I believe it’s pastor Nathaniel Bassey. He has a unique music concept that is both professionally scripted and traditionally rich.
When you speak of music influence, creativity and craft, Nathaniel Bassey has it.
It’s music.
I think it’s Tope Alabi.. Because of the way she models gospel songs, she tends to connect with the rhythms and one interesting thing about her is her love for her native language and it’s inspiring a lot. So I give it to her.. Thank you
I think Nathaniel bassey is the next biggest gospel artist in Nigeria…..
First of his musics are able to pierce into the heart of people and change them…..
There was a young guy who shed tears after listening to Nathaniel bassey songs…he said his songs brought him closer to God….his songs has lifted many souls which have been down…..
Secondly his music is trending in most churches, because of its true definition,he does not just sing for fun,he takes time to write his lyrics, and his lyrics looks as if he’s pouring out his emotion and feelings towards Our Almighty father in words….
Thirdly is the instrumentals in his songs…..most songs these days are lifted,or trending because of their instrumentals….. Nathaniel bassey songs and instrumentals combined together will make you feel like God is just standing in front of you….
I am a living testimonies of how his songs has changed my life….it has stopped me from putting myself in some situations where the devil would use me….. before. Wrote this comment I asked those close to me who the best gospel artist after spinach is, and 4 out seven said it’s Nathaniel bassey.
The next biggest Artiste after Sinach is Mercy Chinwo
Of a truth Sinach has really made the kingdom of God and Africa proud with her consistent breath taking achievements and pace that She has set as far as gospel music is involved.
Well I would go for Mercy Chinwo taking the Barton after Sinach with this few points of view…
1. It’s evident that Mercy Chinwo has not been so long in the gospel music scene in Nigeria, like Tope Alabi, Sinach, Nathaniel Bassey, Ada Ehi, Eben etc.
But with just an album (which every single track was a hit) she did not only become a house hold name in Nigeria or Africa as a whole, but has been able to gain the attention of almost all the gospel musicians around the world.
2. After such a hit album she didn’t relax but went ahead to drop hit singles back to back, and few days ago presented us with her second album which has not been up to three days, but the songs are already becoming an anthem upon every lips.
3. Mercy Chinwo is so versatile which means she can not be put to a box, not to mention her Vocal prowess… Her voice is strong, firm, melodious and calm at the same time.
4. Not only that She delivers well on recording but her live ministrations are something out of this world… No doubt that Mercy Chinwo is the next big thing in Gospel music after Sinach in Nigeria.
Note: barely two to three years of fame, she is arguably one of the top 10 gospel musicians with the highest fan base worldwide on Instagram.
I agree Sinach is the greatest gospel artist in Nigeria as well as in Africa. After Sinach, I will say Frank Edward because I love and enjoy the pattern of his songs
