The 38 kidnapped schoolchildren and administrators of the Government Science College Kagara, Niger State, on Saturday, reclaimed their liberation from bandits, who held them in captivity for 10 days.
The reptilians, who were welcomed by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello at the Niger State Government House in Minna, narrated their plight in the bandits’ lair on Saturday.
The 38 survivors, comprised 24 students, six staff members and eight kin of the staff members, reached in Minna early on Saturday.
One of the 24 students, who gained their liberty on Saturday, Suleiman Lawal, said given the kind of misery he endured in the bandits’ cave, it was impossible he would go to the same school.
The SS3 pupil said, “We suffered so much. I had never faced this kind of situation in all my life. I don’t think I would like to go back to that school again.”
His friend, Mahmood Mohammed, characterized the ordeal as hellish, saying he never felt he would reclaim safety.
“I faced hell; it was not easy, I did not know I would come back. I had a headache when I was in the bush but they didn’t take care of me. They were many. The experience is terrible; I am not feeling good”
