Nathaniel Bassey Makes #Jesus Trend Online
“Can we make this picture our profile picture and tweet at 12 noon? Let’s release the precious ointment over our land and nation. JESUS,”
The tweet from renowned gospel music artiste Nathaniel Bassey went on twitter at 11:58 am on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. Roughly two hours after Bassey’s tweet, ‘Jesus’ started gaining momentum in thousands of impressions with multiple tweets from users and passing it forward to more people in the online community.
This would not be the first time the singer Nathaniel Bassey had made a huge wave online with his faith. 5 years ago in June 2017, Bassey started a wave on social media when he pioneered his #HallelujahChallenge, a one-hour midnight worship session via his Instagram page that ran for 30 days and had over 20,000 participants in one night.
Its five year later and he is asking his 3.9 million followers on Instagram and Twitter to make it their profile picture by noon. Christians accross Nigeria and parts of the world joined the trend by using the picture with the name of Jesus as their display picture and status on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp, as instructed by Nathaniel Bassey.
While the majority of Christians are part of this trend, a few others have also expressed their non-support on this trend saying that at this time in Nigeria where the country is unstable and in unrest because of coming elections, he should have urged his followers to get their PVCs.
