Gospel Legend Andraé Crouch Laid to Rest

andrae-laid2restGospel great Andraé Crouch was laid to rest Wednesday.

On Tuesday night, a memorial service was held at West Angeles Church of God in California. Hundreds of fans and loved ones gathered to remember Crouch at a musical tribute event.

Marvin and Bebe Winans attended the memorial service and recalled how inspiring Crouch’s work was.

”Andraé was that bridge. He brought old and new, cutting edge and traditional, together,” Marvin said.

”He broke that wall of segregation, you know, where black gospel wasn’t being played or being accepted. He wrote songs that broke that door and so we owe so much to him,” BeBe said.

Last month, Crouch was hospitalized for pneumonia and congestive heart failure and had to cancel a tour. He was readmitted to the hospital in early January.

In his 72 years, Crouch worked with stars like Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Barbara Mandrell.
