Andraé Crouch was born on July 1, 1942 in Los Angeles, California, USA as Andraé Edward Crouch. He is known for his work on The Color Purple (1985), Downsizing (2017) and Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006). He died on January 8, 2015 in Northridge, California.
He was the Soul Gospel Artist of the Year for Billboard magazine (1975 and 1977).
He was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame (1998) and the Christian Music Hall of Fame and Museum (2007).
He won six Gospel Music Association Dove Awards and seven Grammy Awards.
He earned a Gold Record for “Jesus Is the Answer”.
He also won an ASCAP Award, a Billboard Music Award, and a NAACP Image Award.
