TalkZone: Is Romance a sin in a Christian Relationship?

is christian romance sin

Can two people marry without romance? impossible don’t you think?, unless one or both of them were forced/compelled to marry the other. The act of proposing marriage, accepting proposal, visiting families, choosing wedding dates and all that, happens between when the attraction started till after the marriage terminates is romance.

So what is Romance?

The term romance is used to describe styles of literature, situations, and certain languages, such as French and Italian. But, for the purposes of this article, the word romance will be limited to the emotional excitement or attraction that a specific person or situation elicits in another. That kind of romance is a popular topic in our culture. Music, movies, plays, and books capitalize upon our human fascination with romantic love and its seemingly endless expressions. But In a Christian worldview, is romance good or bad or somewhere in between?

Some people believe that It’s not bad to want to have sex with your significant other. It’d be another sort of worry if you didn’t. They say the key is to want to glorify Christ more than you want to have sex with each other.

Romance to others in today’s world is seen as Pre-intimacy.

Pre-intimacy includes kissing, smooching, caressing, etc. This can as well be regarded as fornication, because of the standard for relationship with the opposite sex which Jesus has set in Matthew 5:28 thus “But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart”.

Taking all these meanings into consideration, what is your position regarding the question?
