Due to diminishing finances, the Kano State Government has cut the salaries of political office holders in the state by half for the month of March.

The move was taken, according to the state commissioner for information, Muhammad Garba, who announced it in a statement on Tuesday, due to a shortfall in revenue accruing to the state from the federation account.
He said the decision impacted the governor, deputy governor, and all other state officials, including commissioners, special advisors, senior special assistants, and special assistants.

According to Garba, local government chairmen, vice-chairmen, elected councilors, supervisory councilors, advisors, and secretaries were all affected by the pay cuts.
